Early present

Hey, it seems there's still nothing to watch on Thursday nights so I spent some more time working on the Minbari fleet, which I'm happy to say are now finished, a day early!  Enjoy!  Have a good weekend and good gaming!

Missile Update

The EA ships with Advanced Missile selections had an extraneous entry for the Advanced Multi-Warhead Missile, which put several of the data out of sorts - this entry has been deleted and updated to those 4 sheets.

I've worked up the base for about half of the Minbari ships so far, I'm hoping to get those done for next week.

Back from SanDog

I was totally wrecked.  I didn't do anything but sleep after I got back and now my entire sleep cycle is thrown off.  Not doing that again without a hotel overnight somewhere...

Erik's San Diego tournament was a blast, it was really fun to get to play in a tourney without having to worry about scoring, rules adjudications, setup and take-down, etc..  I had a lot of fun.  The Store staff at Game Towne were the best - couldn't be more nice!  and Oh yeah, I won! Woo Hoo!  Here's my tournament fleet list, I used an old KOTJ entry form to write my list up, so don't pay attention to anything but he ships, priority level, and names there.  I started from an all-Chronos fleet concept, just to see if the Chronos was unbalanced at Skirmish or not.  I added Delphi's for for the fleets that would be using stealth against me.  I realized how light on fighters I would be, So I needed to pick up some fighters I could use at any PL, so I dumped some Chronos for a squadron of Hermes (didn't realize until later I couldn't put 5 in a squadron...)  after seeing the low AD weapons on the Chronos and Hermes, I figured I better put some higher AD ships in the mix incase I run up against some Abbai or Drakh.  So, the next replacement was a complimentary squadron of Myrmidon LCV's.  I figured they'd fold like paper, but the front arc of this patrol ship has a whopping 14AD at 8", and the turreted pulse cannons would also be nice.  They might not be twin-linked, but a decent redirect from my Delphi would help them out, and the Hermes as well.  But inevitably, I would need a big gun for the G'Quan or Primus that would probably show, and decided on the War-level Command Omega.  It added another 6 fighters, a great command bonus, and an awesome 8AD beam.  It also has good slugging broadsides - not the 20" range of the Warlock's railguns, but the minibeams on the 2E Omegas would be an interesting twist.  I used the free-swap option to make all my fighters Thunderbolts.  Next time I may try trading some patrol choices for the new Firebolts, which look pretty cool, but I was hesitant to try the expensive new fighter and stayed with the trusty thunderbolts.  If you want to see my account of the tourney, check out the thread on the Mongoose forums here.

The next fleet of 2nd Edition is now ready for download, you can check out the winning Crusade Era Earth Alliance fleet cards now.  Next up: Minbari!

Hope you had a good weekend also!

Coming soon to a Crusade near you...

Tonight I cranked out the base for all the Crusade Era Earth Alliance cards.  I have to add text boxes, missile dropdown boxes, and then program them up to the website.  I've got a WFRP 2E game I'm running tomorrow night, Wed. night I've got to get my tournament fleet ready for the San Diego tournament this weekend, and Thursday night I I might be able to get some work done here before leaving Friday after work.  So, hopefully I'll be able to get these cards fully posted to the website Sunday evening - depending on how wrecked I am from riding the train / bus to San Diego and back in 2 days.

Conquering ConQuest

Well, I'm back!  Conquest SF was a blast despite the hotel being under construction, understaffed, and unventilated.  HA.  Yes, under construction.  Seems all the hotels in the area are upgrading their facilities and ours was no exception.  The RPGA room downstairs had been made habitable just the day before the con.  Understaffed?  yes, their restaurant could not keep up with demand Saturday, and frankly was quite rude to some good friends of mine.  Unventilated? yes, said RPGA room had no air and instead we were offered multiple fans to keep the room cool in an uncharacteristically hot weekend in the Bay.  Which worked quite well, if you didn't mind having the doors open to let in the outside air.  Did I mention that the hotel is about 1/2 mile across the water from the back end of 2 runways?  Yeah, reading "box text" between takeoffs was interesting.

Friday was my day to relax, gaming wise.  I was scheduled to only play in a couple Living Greyhawk (LG) games, no judging or demoing today.  I left my place early; its about a 2 1/2 hour drive to ConQuest if there's no traffic and lets face it, its the bay, there will be traffic.  With the first total Bay Bridge closure since the earthquake happening this weekend for construction, I figured there would be a mess on the roads.  And there wasn't really - there was a highway backup for an accident, but I had no waiting at the Bridge toll booths, which is unusual.  I got to the hotel about 9am, a couple hours before the con opened at 1pm.  Why so early you ask?  Check into a good room and get a good parking spot.  I didn't want to be one of the guys parking across the street and have to go move it every couple hours, or worse, risk getting towed.  The rooms were great.  Possibly the most comfortable beds I've had at a hotel :)

Saturday I got to my demo table just before starting time, which meant I was late.  The beds were that comfortable! :(  Anyway, the demo went great and I met some players from up in my neck of the woods.  Since I didn't have anything going on in the afternoon I let the demo run late and we finished up about 2pm I think.  Its was a good 4 turn game, some of the players had played first edition and were eager to find other players and try out 2nd edition; which, I had to estimate from what I'd heard on the Mongoose forums and S&P.  I didn't have a copy of the rules yet, and didn't hook up with the M.I. until after we'd started.  Anyway, we had a great game.  Later that night I judged a LG game and nearly killed a PC monk...gotta watch those fort saves man!

Sunday was more of the same, but this time I had to watch my time on the demo because I had to judge another LG game for the afternoon.  As it happened, the second demo didn't make it into the event program, so I had no "demand" for games, but I managed to run a few people through a game one-on-one which suited me fine.  Those games were kept simple, 2 skirmish vs. 2 skirmish, to play quick.  The LG game in the afternoon was a blast also, I almost killed another PC monk, yikes...!  That time, though, he brought it on himself.  Diving into a pit to see what's down there is almost never a good idea.  This game I got to use my new Dungeon Tiles which are remarkably useful.  I switched out of the last game I was signed up to play that night, trading it for the same game in the morning; some buddies and I really wanted to play the next Descent dungeon in our little Descent campaign we've got going.  Wow...long game.  Descent usually takes a while, but we played from about 630pm until 245am.  Ouch.  The Evil Overlord (aka me!) wound up killing the heroes this time though, so they have to start it with fresh players next time.  But such a late game totally nixed the idea of playing the early game in the morning, so I wound up sleeping very late...

Got home about 4pm Monday after seeing a couple sights on the way home, was a long, fun, but tiring weekend.  Can't wait til next year.

I took some pictures Saturday, they're up in the Gallery for you to see...
