A Busy Weeknd...

Well, for those of you brave enough to come and test your mettle at this year's King of the Jumpgate tournaments, here are the awards you'll vying for, courtesy of Mongoose Publishing!

From left to right, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place; Best Painted Fleet, and Best Sportsman.  Many thanks to Matthew Sprange and Alexander Fennell for making these available for us.  I may also get to dig up some other prizes so we'll see how it goes...!

Now for the updates:  I got real busy this weekend and did the entire Dilgar fleet for ACTA.  I've also made come corrections to the Shadow Hunter card and the Drakh Carrier, both having to do with weapon ranges.

For the Victory at Sea players, I've added a sheet to the UK fleet, the Fiji and Norfolk class cruisers.

This will probably be the last time I get to make major updates to the ACTA cards before KOTJ3 in April.  I've got 2 Saturdays left and I have much left to do for the tournaments themselves.  I have triva to gather, terrain to put together, battlemats to paint, scoring notes to print, etc...   If I'm lucky, I can do the Raider fleet and the Pak'Ma'Ra before KOTJ4 at Kublacon in May.

Overdue update

Yeah, its been a while.  What's happened since my last update?

Well, April is definitely convention season in Northern California.  Two big gaming cons are gonna be on tap, Conquest Sacramento 2007, (a general gaming con) and Theocracy by the Bay (a local RPGA-only con)  I've been making preparations for both - trying to expand the field of DM's for some "Bright Sands" mods I played at  Prelate-con in Tracy.  I ran 3 games in two weeks which was a lot for anyone when you're not talking about a convention setting.

Got my taxes filed.  That's a pain in the ass.

Tried to find some more of the great space battlemats from Monday Knight Productions, but it turns out they don't make them any more - they've been discontinued.  SO, I've now been set to task making my own - and found it can be done cheaply! the local fabric store was selling black felt for about 4$ a yard...so those battlemats aren't that expensive until you start talking paint.  Still, I got enough for 2 mats, some leftover felt to practice on, and plenty of paint for under $30.  We'll see how they turn out.

I finally saw "300" in the second week...very cool film, if not exactly historically accurate.  but great visuals.

I got the prize medals from Mongoose yesterday - they look really cool!  I'm going to see about getting the back engraved.  Some have enamel on the front so I hope that won't be a problem.  I took a picture that looks OK but was unable to download my memory stick, so those will come later.

Yesterday was game night a A-1 for me and my buddies.  Some of them had the new Axis and Allies minis from Wizards and were trying them out in a VAS game, the rest of us played a dungeoncrawl game called Descent: Journeys in the Dark.  Its a very cool game, has lots of high quality markers and cards and minis.  The first expansion box (Well of Darkness) has a load of more goodies - added dungeons, more heroes, monsters, gear, etc...Had a blast!  try it...if you dare muhahahah!

I'll be continuing my work on the ACTA cards this weekend.  Til then!

A little more VAS action

Well, this will be a small update.  I've added pages for the next couple fleets, the Dilgar and the Raiders, which don't have anything on them as yet.  I did add a new sheet for the USN fleet, with the Gato and the New Orleans class.  The Gato is designed to run multiple boats, it has damage and crew tracks for up to 4 subs (a war point's worth).  I had a great game day yesterday down at A-1 with the visiting Vacaville crew - we played a 4-player, 2-team game of ACTA - 2 battle points each, with individual initiative.  It was ISA and Dilgar vs. 2 Crusade era EA fleets.  The Diglar had a Tikrit, 2 Omelos, and a Targrath, the ISA had 4 White Stars, and the EA had an Apollo, 2 Hyperions, 2 Chronos, and a Marathon.  Well, the EA didn't stand up much against the White Stars, at the end, only an undamaged Apollo remained for the EA, against 3 White Stars, a Tikrit, and 1 Omelos.  It was pretty sad.  Afterwards, we played a 5 player game of Settlers using the Cities and Knights expansion, and had a blast.  Good Times!

Updates are going to be light this week, I've got a LG game I'm running on Tuesday to prep for, an awesome movie to go see (Frank Millers "300" starts later this week), and more games to prep for next week, I'm running 3 rounds of games next week and playing in another adapted mod.
