More VAS action
I added a new sheet to the US Navy and the Royal Navy fleet pages.
Way to go Marty! Congrats to "The Departed"! I said it was a cool film and it was. Many Oscars! Woot!
25 February 2007 update
14 hours later...
Well, I did a bunch MORE of work on the site today. The Abbai fleet is posted and ready for A Call to Arms, and I've opened the Victory at Sea part of the site. I'm restricted by what images I can get so these may not be complete for a while - sorry! I'll do bits and pieces as I have time. For now, to whet your appetite, I've got 4 US battleships and 2 UK battleships ready to go. Enjoy!
Also, a misprint on the Drakh Carrier card has been fixed, which incorrectly listed the Heavy Neutron Cannon as having a 30 inch range, has been corrected to show 20 inches. Thanks to Peter Simpson for pointing out the error. BZ Pete!

Kublaaaaa!
Well, I did a bunch of work on the site today. I submitted the King of the Jumpgate IV event to Kublacon so I figured I get that I'd better get the info ready for that event. It will be largely the same as Conquest Sac but the great news is that Mongoose themselves will have a booth at Kublacon so I'm hoping that will help draw more players.
For ACTA, the Pak'Ma'Ra are coming out and so I'll be supporting this fleet with cards as well, in due time. I have several left in front of them...
Mongoose Publishing's new game, Victory at Sea, has been wildly popular as WW2 Navy games go. Its based mostly on the ACTA ruleset with some tweaks for lower-tech fleets (range and speed penalties, for instance). My friends and I have been playing this pretty regularly, and find it to be a lot of fun, so I've been working up some cards for this game. I'll be hosting them here soon as well. Right now you won't see any fleets up but I had to get the page ready.
I'm going to do as much of the Abbai fleet tomorrow as I can (writing this at about 1:50 am here...) so you'll have something to look foreword too later.

and a new game!
Just a quick update on what's been going on recently.
My CD's from History on CD-ROM came in, so I'm going to be adding VAS content to the site in the near future, now that I have a good source of images for the cards I'm going to make. I ordered CDs that will have the majority of ships for the Royal Navy, Kriegsmarine, United States Navy, and the Imperial Japanese Navy; however, I got a Russian CD rather than a German one so I'm waiting to hear if I'll get the one I ordered yet.
I've heard from Mongoose regarding prize support for the King of the Jumpgate tournaments I'm running this year, and they've agreed to send out some prizes. We'll see what happens. I was informed they intend to have a booth at Kublacon this year (where I'll be running KotJ IV), so it should be a great time in the Bay area come May! Woot!
For those of you in Living Greyhawk, we had a great little event down in Tracy, CA this last weekend, where my fighter leveled to 7 and is now a Fighter 6/Exotic Weapon Master 1. Whoo hoo, 5 attacks! ha ha ha Thanks to Mac Chambers and Kings Comics and Games for running, and hosting a great time. I met some new players and it was a really great time.
In the last couple weeks, I've seen 2 movies, Children of Men starring Clive Owen and Ghost Rider starring Nicholas Cage. Children of Men was a really good film - about all I can say is I wish there had been more of Julianne Moore. Ghost Rider is, well, Ghost Rider. I don't think it was as bad as the reviewers have said, but lets face it, as cool as Ghost Rider is, a movie about a guy with a flaming skull for a head who rides a flaming motorcycle probably isn't going to be much more than an effects movie. Most superhero movies, as well done as they are recently, all have the same problem the first time out: setting up the character for those who don't know. I've never read Ghost Rider, so in this case I was glad for some backstory, but having to compress meaningful relationships into the first 10 or so minutes of a film, in order to understand a hero's motivations, is hard to do. X-men, Fantastic 4, Hulk, all had this problem. Spider man did it pretty well I think, but they incorporated it into the story better.
Anyway, Saturday, I'll be looking to add a VAS section to the website, as well as hopefully get some Abbai posted. See you later.

The Servants have become the Masters...
As the Drakh fleet comes to ACTA Cards! I'm still looking for a picture of a player-painted example for this fleet, but I trudged ahead and got the fleet posted anyway...you're welcome Fin-Man! I'm very curious to sse this fleet played at King of the Jumpgate III.
It seems the VAS forum is nearly as busy as the ACTA forum lately, and the same issues keep coming up as ACTA! Fighters aren't powerful enough, ships don't balance, some rules in the book are poorly worded, and clarifications are few and far between, but that doesn't prevent it from being one of the quickest selling products in the mongoose lineup (read the threads regarding the VAS counter sheets! Sold out!)
Also, I have to hand it to them for not entering an already crowded ship miniature market...there's some great stuff out there (I'm looking at GHQ for a primary fleet and Panzershiffe for a secondary...) Yes the VAS bug bit me too, I was in the Navy so of course this is right up my alley. Which means of course there will be VAS fleet cards in the near future. I've been experimenting with formats and found one I like but I need better art so I'm getting that together. Don't expect me to dive into that until after I've got all the ACTA cards done though.
If you're a Living Greyhawk player in Northern California, I hope to see you at Prelate-Con in Tracy next weekend and then of course ConQuest Sacramento 2007

Cattle mutilation anyone?
Yes, its the Vree! Those little guys have been messing with the human race for who knows how long...Crop Circles, Cattle Mutilations, etc...anyway, the Vree fleet is now finished and posted in the ACTA cards section of the site.
I'm starting to get entries for the King of the Jumpgate III in April. Should be a good event, and bigger than last year! Come on and prove your worth against some of the finest players in Northern California and Nevada! Or at least, whoever else shows up!
